Welcome to this website. I´m Jasper and I´m a native English teacher who specialises in teaching English as a foreign language. I´ve designed this website for my students and it contains videos of English pronunciation exercises to help them with their homework and private study. English pronunciation is very complex and a real challenge for every student, as they need to develop their ability to listen carefully and reproduce sounds well. There are a few sound rules of Spoken English and it is imperative that you master the use of these rules when practicing Spoken English and reading aloud. There are exceptions to the rules too. Interestingly, when we examine these exceptions in relation to verbs alone, the exceptions are very often the most frequently used, fundamental verbs of movement and being, that play an enormous role in the mechanics of everyday communication. They couldn´t be more important or more common. Some consonants have three or four different pronunciation styles. We have 5 vowels in English, but 20 different ways to pronounce them! There are hundreds of words that are non-intuitive to pronounce, where you could never guess the pronunciation correctly from the way the word is written. Again, many of these words, are part of the basic common, everyday vocabulary and you have to be able to recognise them to be able to use them well. Every word has its tonic and we will explore the rules, all the exceptions, all the non-intuitive words, and all the words with double vowels that you need to have in your working vocabulary. Then, you will be able to deliver them with confidence and clarity. My aim in these pages is to provide you with a practice space where you can develop your ability to listen, recognise and create clear Spoken English sound production. Have fun with it. |
